I have installed Manifold 8.0.10.0 on 64 bit windows xp. I have not been able to check for updates nor able to connect to virtual earth images. My internet connection is okay and I checked up both internet explorer as well as firefox, which are able to browse internet. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance

I have the same problem.

I thought it is related to AVG firewall. Do you use that software too ? [if I turn off AVG, the update checking can be done]

Have you install this?

64bitImageServers.exe (111 KB) - Manifold includes the ability to automatically connect to image servers like Microsoft Virtual Earth, Yahoo and Google image servers using optional image server modules. This download is a self-extracting RAR .exe file containing 64-bit .dlls for use on 64-bit x64 Windows systems together with x64 Manifold, generously compiled and contributed by forum participant and manifold expert dmbrubac. Choose Save and then double-click on the .exe file to extract the dlls. Installed the same way as the 32-bit modules.

Note: Everybody as problems linking to the Google Servers. So, use the Virtual Earth.

I have installed the imageservers for 64 bit. It shows in the list of imageservers.

I also tried both 32 bit and 64 bit mode.

Even the check for updates in manifold shows "Error checking for updates"

I have shut off the firewall (Bit defender) and still it does not work.

Firewall when on, asks for permission for manifold to Connect.

Still it doesnot work.

There seems to be somehting else wrong

Try this:

Create a folder in C:, for example ImageTemp, and atribute to this folder the Web privileges (you can use the IIS to do this).

After, open the Manifold, go to menu Tools - Options - File Locations and in Data Cache write the location to taht directory (c:\ImageTemp) and see if this solves your problem.

Tried but failed. It seems to be bitdefnder which blocks updates and access to internet. Trying.
