#26-Aug-08 06:31

I was attempting to upgrade to Manifold 8.0.9 on one of our end-user computers which run Windows XP Pro.. When I went to add remove programs to remove 8.0.8 I got a Windows Installer Error Saying that "A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor". After this 8.0.8 will not open ("Authentication Error") and I cannot install 8.0.9 (I get the same installer error as above). I tried running the 8.0.8 install and selecting repair but this does not change anything.

I installed an unrelated program to see if this was a windows issue and it let me install and uninstall no problem.

Any thought on a solution to this problem?

Have you tried the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility?

Nope can't uninstall 8.0.8 but I'll try the utility and let you know how it goes.

yes, use the Uninstaller that Brian suggested. That pretty much works no matter what's been fouled up.

I did this with the latest update too - I clumsily ran another setup program while Manifold was installing and I think that's what corrupted it. The cleanup utility fixed it.

I'm facing the same problem and I nearly freak out! I tried the cleanup utility mentioned and I removed manifold withthis tool.. Now I do not see manifold in the windows installer anymore BUT I still have it inculding the symbol in my program file and when I execute it from there It is requesting an activation key..

In the activatio key field the systemID is grey and I have no clue waht I shoud do now.. I wrote to manifodl tech sofar but I realy need help on this!!!

First stop should always be the Activation Guide at

http://www.manifold.net/tech/activation.shtml

That has links to very useful pages like Activation Troubleshooting

http://www.manifold.net/tech/activation_troubleshooting.shtml

and the Activation FAQ

http://www.manifold.net/tech/activation_faq.shtml

Sounds like the above covers what you are asking: There's a link to the page for Windows Installer problems at http://www.manifold.net/tech/win_installer.shtml and the system ID thing is covered in the FAQ.

I figured it out! It was the *#*"@ NET. framework!
