I really like the new feature on the front page, listing "Featured threads" and the commentary on the flame war - it would be good to archive that stuff, on a "Previous features" page or similar.

Another suggestion: the statistics page is quite interesting, and I just realized that the number of posts does not relate to the most active thread that is listed (until I thought about it). Adding the number of posts of the most active thread (perhaps in brackets after the thread title) would be good.

I have inserted both of the above requests into the wishlist for the forum site. We will eventually get to that wishlist, I promise.

Thanks Adam, awesome.

Another request from me: feature this post from Ralphie. That's going to keep me smiling all day. ;)

Well, I thought this is a perfect opportunity to try out the "do not feed the pigeons" approach.

Add my applause for Featured Threads. Was digging through Manifold Help without much success for process to align topology among several areas and boundaries generated from metes and bounds in historic deeds . Checked Georeference for threads and there featured is a tutorial on the subject of editing adjacent areas. Very helpful.

Hello to all.

What would be nice is a system similar to the one that microsoft uses on msdn foruns.

Shortly, for each post there's a button saying ("Was this post helpful?" Y/N), by click yes the post will be like 'flaged'.

Regards.

Agreed. We've discussed similar topics before, but of course by marking posts as 'helpful' or 'answer', you should ideally be able to search for those helpful posts and also reward the answerer, perhaps with reputation points. That gives new users a way to quickly identify the gurus (not that a user couldn't post the most helpful answer known to humanity as their first post) but it also adds some complexity.

There are good reasons why Manifold has developed their own forum software, although we haven't seen all of the advantages yet. When I transferred management to Manifold I was considering CommunityServer (http://communityserver.com/). It's used on Microsoft and MySpace pages and includes the 'helpful' flags, tags, blogs, groups and media. Oh well...
