Good day all. I'm working on a map series that make its way to a branch of a provincial government. This government requires metadata for all projects, and are often quite specific about what they want.

In trying to document all my layers, with sources, processes I have applied to the data, and themes used to format each layer, I note there is nothing I can use beyond the "Notes" module for this. It is possible to save off themes to XML, for example, but nothing that looks at all the formatting applied to a single layer. Similarly, when constructing Layouts, there's nothing that will allow me to document all the pieces that went into the layout.

I guess this is for the wishlist? A solid module for documenting every aspect of a map, please, everything from top to bottom.

Thanks,

If you do a search on this site, there's a component that was created a while back that does metadata to a subset of the USGS metadata standards. I'll see if I can find it and post it up again, but it was quite good as it filled in all the "spatial" info that's hard to get, and then you can go in and type the required information in (names, contact info etc.).

I agree though - a "metadata component" that works similar to how layouts work would be nice...
