We linked few tables with SDO_GEOMETRY column in Oracle into a .map document. The geometry records in total are less than 5,000 (one table has 3,500 records, one has 600 and the third one has about 100). We also used queries to select some records into drawings.

We experienced very slow performance when to open and save the document. It takes over 5 minutes to open or save the document. We are using Oracle 11g and Manifold 8.0.6.

Anyone has the same problem?

Is it that you linked several Oracle tables with SDO_GEOMETRY fields as Manifold drawings, then created several Manifold queries and linked them as drawings as well? If so, how long it takes to open the MAP file without the drawings linked from queries? What is the text of each query?

The tables are linked to queries. But I did a test linking directly to SDO_GEOMETRY tables in Oracle. I cannot see any noticeable difference. Saving and Opening a .map with only one linked table takes more than 3 minutes. By the way, the Oracle is running on a separate computer. Network traffic could be one of the reason. But it still seems something we can do in manifold to improve it.

What is the size of the MAP file if you import the drawing and do a save? What hardware are you using (CPU / RAM / disk space)? What is the operating system? What is the speed of the network connection to the Oracle server? How many users are connecting to that server?
